Gratitude Gate was a dream that started on a hillside. Visions of happiness and healing became the foundation for this journey with the mission to give back. In our first year as an accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we saved the lives of more than 30 animals, each one with a story of survival and perseverance. Over the past year it became apparent that Gratitude Gate needed to find a new home that would not only benefit each one of our animals but, also support our mission of providing education and therapy to our community.
Last year we moved to a 20 acre property located in Tinicum township, a breathtaking corner of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This new space had everything the sanctuary required to provide the very roots Gratitude Gate needed to grow. Growth can be manifested in many ways, often it shows itself when you are presented with your greatest challenges. In April of 2018, we signed a 2 year lease agreement with hopes to purchase the property at the end of the two years, giving Gratitude Gate and all of its ambassadors a forever home, the true definition of sanctuary to any being that seeks comfort and security.
Unfortunately, a situation far beyond our control, required our landlord to put the property up for sale. This in turn caused us to halt any and all plans for a future here in Tinicum. While our lease remains intact until April 2020, to whom the property sells, will determine how long Gratitude Gate is allowed to stay under our current conditions. We are planning ahead as we have no other choice when it comes to safety and security to the animals that call Gratitude Gate home. The animals we love come from all walks of life. Some from terrible places, others from loving homes. All are given an opportunity for a new beginning at Gratitude Gate. Cost and care are constants in animal rescue. They rely on us to do what is best for them through the entirety of their time here with us. A bag a feed, a bale of hay, a surgery of life altering status. Donations breathe life into these animals when they need it the most.
